Indianapolis is once again playing host to the USA Swimming National Championships. I don’t know if it’s because Indianapolis is centrally located in the country, or the IU Natatorium is so cool, or what. But this isn’t the first time the national governing body of the sport of swimming in the United States has elected to hold the championships here.
The first day of the meet is July 7 and will run through July 11 at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI downtown. Swimming tickets are split up for day sessions and evening sessions each day, so if you are looking to see a particular event you should definitely find a schedule of events.
With all of the hubbub around last year’s Olympic games I would imagine most people will be wanting to catch a glimpse of Michael Phelps while he’s here. Also scheduled to swim are Dara Torres, Amanda Beard, Natalie Coughlin, Ian Crocker, Jason Lezak, Ryan Lochte, and Aaron Peirsol, to name a few other Olympians.
As a former competitive swimmer I couldn’t be happier that the USA Swimming National Championships are once again being held right here in Indianapolis.
All events will take place at the IUPUI Natatorium beginning July 7 and conclude on July 11. There will be two sessions each day, a day session and an evening session.
Great names in swimming are certain to be there including Aaron Peirsol, Dagny Knutson, Cullen Jones, Mary DeSenza, and Michael Phelps.
Last week at the Charlotte UltraSwim Aaron Peirsol eeked out a close win over Michael Phelps in the 100m backstroke, so you can expect some great competition in the pool at the Natatorium in July.
Tickets for the USA Swimming National Championships can be purchased online through CircleCityTickets.com. Typing “swimming” into the search box will produce each of the day and evening sessions for you to choose from. For instance USA Swimming – National Championships Day 1 or USA Swimming national Championships Day 5 (Eve).
