Sloppy Seconds

Since the beginning of “cinematic adventures,” filmmakers have been breaking the one cardinal rule of movies: sequels. Unless the film is part of a series, there should never be a 2, II, too, also, again, or any combination of words that imply that this movie is trying to come back for a second round at the end of a film title. Why the strong distaste for sequels? Let’s take a peek at a short list of prime examples:
-Grease 2
-Look Who’s Talking, Too and Look Who’s Talking Now
-Beverly Hills Cop II & II (and I for that matter)
-Speed 2: Cruise Control
-Transporter 2
-The Ling II, The Little Mermaid II, Cinderella 2, and any other sequels to the classic Disney cartoon movies
-Save the Last Dance 2
-Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home
-My Girl 2 (….the icing on the cake!)
If any of you enjoyed one or more of the movies listed, then I am open to hearing your opinions. But my consensus remains that nothing beats the original.
Which brings me to my main point: Colts Play Superbowl in Miami II was bound to disappoint. The casting was similar, but missing a few key stars. The wardrobe was mixed up a bit buy switching from white jerseys to blue. The villain was a fresh opponent. The set was changed from rainy Sunday to warm evening. And of course the ending had to change in order to keep audiences in suspense. Colts fans give this Miami re-do two giant foam thumbs down.
Now that Indianapolis has had nearly two weeks to get over their disgust, it is time to check the showtimes for this upcoming week of some fresh originals or additions to a favorite series available through Circle City Tickets.

42nd Street Tickets Available
Posted by Indianapolis Tickets in Theatre on June 12th, 2009
Ah, St. Louis. Right smack dab in the middle of the country and accessible from everywhere. Why go? Because it is the home of the nation’s oldest and largest outdoor theatre: The Muny.
The Muny is located in the Forest Park area of St. Louis, about 2.5 miles west of the mighty Mississippi River. This is only 230 miles from Indianapolis, 260 miles from Chicago, and 240 miles from Memphis.
The theatre has tickets available for The Muny’ s 2009 Summer Season, which includes fabulous fun, dynamic dancing, and stupendous song with the Broadway smash hit 42nd Street.
If St. Louis is not in your plans for a summer theatre experience, how about Atlanta? The Fabulous Fox Theatre will be presenting 42nd Street from July 28 through August 2.
The Wolf Trap at the Filene Center in Vienna, VA will also be presenting 42nd Street July 17, 18, and 19.
If you are a fan of incredible dancing in musical theatre, I highly suggest you make your way to one of these theatres this summer for a truly wonderful experience.
Tickets for Tony Winner “Billy Elliot” are Available
Posted by Indianapolis Tickets in Theatre on June 9th, 2009
The Theatre Guild’s Tony awards were presented last Sunday and “Billy Elliot” walked away the clear winner of “Best Musical”. The show also made theatrical history as the first to have co-winners of the “Best Actor – Musical” category.
Already a clear favorite of theatre-goers in and visiting New York, “Billy Elliot” is certain to increase its popularity now that it has these Tony’s under its belt.
Sold-out houses are not at all uncommon on or off Broadway. And the best way to ensure you have a seat is to purchase your tickets ahead of time.
“Billy Elliot” tickets are still available while it’s showing at the Imperial Theatre NY. I got mine through CircleCityTickets.com and have already planned my trip to New York City…..well, I don’t have my flight arrangements made.
Jerry Seinfeld Comes to Indy
Posted by Indianapolis Tickets in Theatre on May 16th, 2009
You’d better watch out, you’d better not cry. You’d better not pout, and here is why: Jerry Seinfeld is coming to town.
The star of TV’s hugely successful sitcom “Seinfeld” has a new stand-up show and he’s taking it on the road. On Saturday 11 July he’s bringing it to the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis for 2 performances which are sure to sell out.
Jerry Seinfeld had a very successful standup career prior to his television stardom, and he plans to prove to the Hoosier state that he doesn’t need George, Elaine, Kramer, or Newman to continue his successes.
His July visit to Indy will include a show at 7pm and another at 9:30pm for those who prefer a later evening. Both of these shows still have tickets available, but not for long. the above links will take you directly to the order pages for those shows at CircleCityTickets.com
For a great evening of hilarity and guffaws, go to CircleCityTickets.com and get your tickets ordered right away. This is a show you won’t want to miss.
Murat Theatre Tickets
Posted by Indianapolis Tickets in Concerts on April 30th, 2009
I’ve been purchasing event tickets through CircleCityTickets.com for quite awhile. I’ve bought tickets for concerts, theatre, pro sports, collegiate sports, in-state, out-of-state, you name it. The convenience of searching for a team, a band, or a venue is great, but add to that the ability to pick your seats and this ticket broker is by far my favorite place to shop.
I just searched for “Murat Theatre” and a list of events appeared. The broadway show “Wicked” is coming to the Murat in June, but there are also tickets for James Taylor, Kathy Griffin, Jim Gaffigan, and The Killers to name a few.
Go ahead and visit CircleCityTickets.com and type a venue into the search. You’ll be amazed at the ease with which you can find exactly what you’re looking for. Don’t know the venue, but you know the American Idol Pop Tour is coming to town? Just type in American Idol into the search and the tour dates and cities will pop up to get you where you want to be.
