Feinstein is now the artistic director of the newly-completed, one hundred sixty million dollar Palladium in Carmel, Indiana — a state of the art concert hall already hailed by critics and performers alike as one of the country’s premiere venues. The hall is as exciting and new, in fact, as this musical event for which it provides the setting.

It’s an evening dedicated to “The Sinatra Circle” — the performers, the songs, and that fabulous era of music in which Frank Sinatra reigned supreme. Backed by a seventeen-piece Big Band and spiced with stories about these bigger-than-life personalities, Feinstein will lead a musical exploration into how Sinatra affected his contemporaries — voices like Rosemary Clooney, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Lena Horne, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald — and how they, in turn, affected him.

These legends and more are conjured up by way of their equally-legendary songs, some iconic and others familiar but fresh. “Luck Be a Lady,” “Begin the Beguine,” “All I Need is the Girl,” “I Love Being Here with You,” “What Kind of Fool Am I?” “The Lady is a Tramp,” “Once in a Lifetime,” “Sway!”

That’s only a partial song list, of course, and the numbers may change — but what’s definitely in store is a night of classic American songs, the best of the best, in timeless arrangements with the unmistakable Michael Feinstein style.

Following the success of “The Sinatra Project,” this next step — commissioned by Concord Records — once more emulates the unique, Big Band sound Sinatra originated with Nelson Riddle. It sings…and it most definitely swings…in all-new arrangements bringing that sound right up to date, paying tribute to that time when American music captured our spirit of boundless optimism.
