Spring has sprung and with it opportunities for you to enjoy time together with friends and family. Starting with The Greatest Spectacle in Racing on May 26 to The Kid Rock concert Aug. 25, there is something for everyone!
For those that love classic rock, it’s hard to beat Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers ( Klipsch – June 15) or Chicago with the Indianapolis Symphony ( The Lawn – Sep 15). Or how about Peter Frampton(The Lawn – June 19)? Justin Bieber (Bankers Life – July 10), P!nk (Bankers Life Nov. 21), Bruno Mars (Bankers Life – Aug 19) and Dave Matthews Band doing 2 shows! (Klipsch – June 21,22). Maroon 5 (Klipsch – Aug 3) are also big favorites.
Country fans can call their friends to arrange a group outing to Klipsch Music Center to see Brad Paisley (May 10), Tim McGraw (May 30), Zac Brown Band (June 9) or Kenny Chesney ( June 13).
Of course race fans will want to see The Indianapolis 500 as well as the Brickyard 400 and Moto GP. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosts many a group year after year with traditions and memories abounding.
Jimmy Buffett, Jonas Brothers, Luke Bryan, John Mayer, Keith Urban all add to the diverse offerings this summer. We have many more artists to choose from.
Don’t forget what could be the best concert of the year! The Rolling Stones “50 and Counting” tour! This is a can’t miss show!

This is the summer to connect or reconnect – choose an event, call your friends and make a memory! Circle city Tickets is here to help you with all you ticket needs. Feel free to stop in our office at 8301 N Keystone Ave, Indianapolis. We love to see you, and are always glad to help you find what you need!

They are all skating into town with Disney On Ice: World of Fantasy this month! Disney On Ice: World of Fantasy features four Disney favorites, “The Little Mermaid,” “Cars,” “Toy Story 3” and “Tinker Bell” in the interactive 2 hour and 15 minute show.

Performing on the ice since 1981, Disney On Ice, has been a fun and interactive way to see Disney characters come to life in costume on a frozen stage. Ursula, Lighting McQueen, Buzz Lightyear, and other fairies from Pixie Hollow will be sure to make appearances on the ice during the show at Bankers Life Fieldhouse from January 23-27.

Now that the holidays are over, get caught up in the fun and fairytales only Disney can offer. Tickets can be purchased for the entire family here.

We think life is much better with music. The latest commercial from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra makes this statement “Life. It’s Better with Music.” Don’t you agree?

Members of the orchestra make appearances in the commercial at every day kind of places and make the statements with their instruments about what they are doing is better with music. Vicki Griswold, a violist, starts off the commercial and says, “Workouts are better with music,” while running on a treadmill at a gym while playing her violin.

Other musicians from the group make similar statements at a business office, the Butler basketball court, a bar, and a dinner table. Jack Everly, Principal Pops Conductor says holidays are better with music while the groups music director, Krzysztof Urbanski, finishes the commercial with the line, “Life is better with music.”

The ISO was in the news earlier this fall when they couldn’t reach an agreement with the Indianapolis Symphony Society about financial offerings. Although the musicians are back to work after negotiations ended in October, this is contingent on the Indianapolis Symphony Society raising $5 million dollars in new donations before this contract expires in February 2013. The society is confident they can reach that goal and we hope so too. Life is better with music and we hope the ISO is here to stay!

Fresh off the heels of hosting a WNBA championship, Hoosier basketball fans are hungry for more. The NBA season returned Halloween night and the Pacers are looking to build on last year’s run to the conference semifinals. The Pacers opened the season on the road in Toronto, but have six home games in December. The following are the ones I am looking forward to most.

November 16- Dallas Mavericks

From a basketball standpoint, this game would be more exciting if the Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki were playing. He’s out for six weeks with a knee injury which should make things easier for the home team. However, I want to see Mavs game on the off chance I might meet their owner, Mark Cuban. While some may not like his borderline obnoxious behavior, I enjoy it. Besides, any billionaire who shills for Sketchers can’t be all bad.

November 21-New Orleans Hornets

As a native of New Orleans, I am excited about the possibility of the Hornets not being cellar dwellers this year. Last year’s miserable campaign helped them land the number one pick in the draft where they selected Anthony Davis. I know two things about Davis: He is extremely talented and he proudly sports a uni-brow. Hopefully his skills allow me to look past the fact that he knowingly leaves the house with facial hair only a mother or a groupie could love.

November 23- San Antonio Spurs

The Pacers get to play two games in three days with Thanksgiving sandwiched in between. No worries. The second game is against the Spurs, only one of the most talented teams in the league with a hall of a fame coach, power forward, and a host of all-stars. It should be a walk in the park. Thanks a lot Commissioner Stern.

Which games are you most looking forward to?

I have a confession to make. Throughout the years, I have cultivated a considerable Facebook following because of my random and often witty observations on life. While about 75% of those observations are mine, I have been known to occasionally “borrow” other people’s observations without giving them credit. It’s not something I’m proud of. I’ve been living with this secret shame for years and have decided to come clean today.

One of my favorite people to “borrow” observations from is comedian Jim Gaffigan. Gaffigan, a native Hoosier, will be returning to Indiana to do two shows at the Murat Theater November 3 as part of his Mr. Universe tour.

Gaffigan isn’t the edgiest comedian around but he has a devoted following and spends a lot of time discussing one of my favorite subjects: food. At some point in the past I have borrowed the following observations, much to the delight of my Facebook minions:

Pie vs. Cake

Pie can’t compete with cake. Put candles in a cake, it’s a birthday cake. Put candles in a pie, and somebody’s drunk in the kitchen.

Cake in the Morning

Sometimes we try to hide the fact we’re eating cake because we know it’s bad for us. You know the difference between cake and a muffin? Nothing. A muffin is just a bald cupcake.

Peanut Butter

I bought some peanut butter the other day. There was, creamy, chunky, extra crunchy, and extreme crunchy. I bought the extreme crunchy, opened it up…it was just peanuts. That is extreme.

Hopefully, Jim will accept my apology when he comes to town. I’d hate to get on the bad side of Mr. Universe.

Fall weather is finally here in central Indiana. Cool mornings, beautiful afternoons, and wearing a sweatshirt doesn’t make you sweat! It is glorious. Although we don’t know if the leaves will change due to the crazy weather we had this summer, fall is still here and we can enjoy it.

Here are some local experiences we on the Circle City Tickets team love to enjoy during this pretty season!

Starbuck’s has somehow had their affect on when the season starts because it just feels like fall is here when they bring back Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Salted Carmel Mochas. You can now enjoy one…just visit your local Starbucks café!

Apple picking. This is a perfect family gathering you can do with family members of all ages. We suggest: Stuckey Orchard & Cider Mill or Anderson Orchard Pleasant View.

Fall means football! Go back to campus to remember the falls you spent there…get tickets to Ball State, Indiana, Purdue, Indiana State, and Notre Dame games (and others!).

Take a ride down the Monon Trail. Before the weather gets too cold, get your bikes out one more time to enjoy the Monon. Take a stop in Broad Ripple, get some ice cream from Brics and pretend it is still summer! Or get a delicious coffee from the Monon Coffee Co.

Enjoy art! The season for art and fall festivals is in full swing. Go and browse through some cool local artists masterpieces!

Have other ideas? Share in the comments below.

I live my life consumed by one goal: to clear as many things as possible off my bucket list. Every year, I add a few more things to the list. One of the items I added to the list this year was competing on a game show. I’ve loved game shows my entire life and have often been told my mind is full of useless information. In a perfect world, I’d go on “Jeopardy!” or “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”. However, it has recently come to my attention that The Price is Right is coming to Clowes Hall. I used to watch the Price is all time with my grandmother. I’m pretty sure it had something to do with Bob Barker. If I were to make an appearance on The Price is Right, here are the 3 things I would look forward to most:

The Bidding- Before you can get to the big stage, you must first outbid the other contestants on a random prize like a dining room table, a couch, or a zebra. I would employ the foolproof method of underbidding everyone. It has always been a life long dream of mine to utter the phrase: “1 dollar, Bob”. Works every time.

Plinko- The Big Kahuna of Price is Right games has to be Plinko. Contestants guess at the price of smaller prizes in attempt to earn Plinko chips and the opportunity to use those on the hallowed Plinko board. Contestants have the chance to win $25,000. I once played a version of this game as a youth in summer camp. The thrill of watching that chip seductively saunter down the board was the highlight of my adolescence.

Show Case Showdown- The Price is Right ends every show the same way: with a showcase showdown. Two contestants are given the opportunity to bid on separate prize packages and the closest bidder wins. Here’s a helpful hint: If you ever find yourself in a showcase showdown, skip the first prize pack and bid on the second one. The second prize pack always has a pony. Always.

What do you like most about the Price is Right? Is there another game show you’d like to be on?

Nothing screams summer more than an outdoor concert. Conner Prairie, the host to Symphony on the Prairie, is the perfect place to enjoy an outdoor concert.

School is back in session but the concert series is still going strong with guests coming to town like The Contours-50 Years of Motown on August 30-31, Jon McLaughlin on September 1, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy wrapping up the series on September 7-8.

Tickets are $22 beforehand and $27 at the gate.

Multiple vendors help provide food items for the events but concertgoers are able to pack their own picnics. Concerts are quite popular so to ensure you get a prime spot and don’t get stuck in traffic, leave early. Gates open at 6pm and concerts begin at 8pm.

Enjoy this summer time fun before summer officially ends!

Indiana has always been known as a basketball state, with IU having 5 basketball championships and Butler making back-to-back final games a few years ago. However, football in this state has been good (mostly Notre Dame) but the other 3 teams have had their time in the spotlight too. With the college season quickly approaching, we will preview Indiana’s biggest 4 football programs: Ball State, Indiana, Notre Dame, and Purdue.

Ball State – Ball St. is coming off a 6-6 season, but was not invited to play in a bowl game (maybe unfairly). This will be Head Coach Pete Lembo’s second year at the helm and he is looking to continue improving this team. The offense returns 8 of 11 starters from last year, but only 5 starters on defense. Last year the defense gave up the most points out of any team in the Mid-American Conference. This year the Cardinals will be looking for their first bowl game since 2008 and if some of the new guys can step in on defense and play well, I think that is close to a reality.

Indiana – Indiana is coming off their worst season in recent history, 1-11. Coach Kevin Wilson is entering his second year at IU and hopes to turn it around. He played 16 true freshman last year, including quarterback Tre Roberson, and hopes that the experience will pay off this season. Indiana always has a tough Big Ten schedule, but this year is especially tough (ranking 4th toughest in the Big 10). But if all goes according to plan, Indiana should at least double their wins from last year…maybe even triple! Click Here to buy tickets to IU home games!

Notre Dame – The only team from Indiana ranked in the preseason top 25 (they are 24). The Fighting Irish went 8-5 last season, also the best out of any Indiana school, but was disappointed with it. Notre Dame has some of the richest football history in the country and they are still trying to return to glory. The Irish will have an extremely tough schedule this year facing 5 teams in the top 25 including the 3rd and 4th ranked teams. Notre Dame always has the talent to surprise people, but will they? Notre Dame is the big question mark this year. Click Here to buy Notre Dame tickets!

Purdue - Purdue had a productive season by their standards making and winning a bowl game and ending with a 7-6 record. This year may also be Purdue’s best chance to better that record as they return 9 starters on each side of the ball…out of 11! Purdue also will have a QB controversy going into the season as both Caleb TerBush and Robert Marve have starting experience for the Boilermakers. No matter who they go with, Purdue’s defense is supposed to be very solid and if the offense comes along, this could be the year for the Boilermakers. Click Here to buy tickets to Purdue home games!

Seeing live football action can be the highlight of any sport fan’s year. Being in the stadium, roaring with the crowd and enjoying time with family and friends is a meaningful experience. It is especially meaningful for families at the Ronald McDonald House who are facing troubling times as their child or young loved one faces a tough illness. Going to a football game gives them time to rest from stresses at the hospital and enjoy some recreation.

Circle City Tickets and other National Association of Ticket Brokers (NATB) members have teamed up with the Ronald McDonald House Charities for the past three years and have donated 32 tickets for each preseason NFL game. The program is called “32 for 32” and got its name because of the 32 NFL markets. Each NATB member like Circle City Tickets donates 32 tickets per preseason game as well as serves 32 volunteer hours in their NFL market.

Last weekend here in Indianapolis Circle City Tickets actually gave out 67 tickets for families staying at the Ronald McDonald house got to enjoy the Colts preseason opener against the Rams. They got to see Luck in his first game at Lucas Oil as well as see the Colts come out on top.

The next preseason game families’ rom the Ronald McDonald House will be able to attend is on August 30 against the Bengals.

We will see if the Indiana Fever are rusty on Thursday when they play host to Washington. Why would they be rusty? Because they haven’t played a game since July 12, just about a month! Every Olympic year the WNBA takes a month or so off so their players can play in the Olympics. During this time most players just have to do individual workouts or practice with the team, unless you are one of the 12 players chosen to play with the USA team.

Indiana Fever’s Tamika Catchings is one of those 12. Tamika has been on the Fever for 10 seasons now, and has been something special for this Indiana team. She is a 7-time All-star, 4-time defensive player of the year, WNBA MVP, and has been named as one of the best 15 players ever in the WNBA as of 2011. She is also a 2-time gold medalist with the USA team in 2004 and 2008 and she hopes to make it a trifecta this year in London.

The Fever as a team are 10-7 after the break which is 2nd in the Eastern Conference but only went 3-3 in their last 6 games. The Fever are hoping the break gives them a chance to regroup as a team with 17 games left to go. Catchings will need to come back and be a huge leader for this team again following the Olympics and hopefully she won’t wear herself down towards the end of the season because of it. The Fever have been a contender in the WNBA for years and this year when Catchings and the Fever return to action, they look to push even further.

The last four to five years have been a roller coaster ride for the Colts. They’ve had the good (making the Super Bowl in 2009), the bad (going 2-14 in 2011), and the Lucky (drafting Andrew Luck, the former Stanford Cardinal). Peyton Manning has been the face (heart, soul, and basically whole body) of the Colts franchise since he was drafted in 1998, leading the Colts to a 2006 World Championship. He wasn’t only the leader of the Colts, he WAS the Colts. Now not only is he gone, but no longer will we see Joseph Addai, Dallas Clark, and Gary Brackett in a Colts uniform. Furthermore, with a new quarterback, coach, and philosophy, many people don’t know what to expect this season. The preseason will be great for the Colts because everyone can see what kind of team they will shape up to be. The preseason starts this Sunday, so let’s take a look at their schedule:

Home vs. St. Louis Rams: This is the first chance for fans to see Luck in real game action and he will be going up against another former #1 pick, Sam Bradford. The Colts have never been very good in the preseason while Manning led the team, but this game will set the tone for their upcoming season and I think it’s important for Luck to have a good game and build some confidence. Want tickets? CLICK HERE.

Away vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: If Andrew Luck is going to have nightmares about a preseason game this would be the one. For as long as most can remember the Steelers have been known to attack on defense. Luck may be in for a long game.

Away vs. Washington Redskins: The third preseason game is usually when the starters play the most. Andrew will have to prove he can stand in the pocket for more than a quarter or so as the preseason winds down.

Home vs. Cincinnati Bengals: Hopefully Luck took notes during last year’s NFL season because the Bengal’s Andy Dalton pretty much wrote the book on what to do as a rookie quarterback in the NFL. He was fantastic and now Luck will have to out duel him in the last tune up before the regular season. Want tickets? CLICK HERE.

The Colts have plenty of room to grow, but the fans that go along for the ride will be glad they did. If you want to experience these moments, Circle City Tickets can get you to any Colts home game. The Colts are going to have Luck this season, and sometimes it’s better to be Luck-y than good.

Train is a rare music group. They have been around long enough that my parents have liked their music, but they are still relevant and exciting and a lot of my generation loves them too. That is a huge accomplishment for any band, however it can pose a big challenge for Train while preforming concerts like the one I went to at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on last Saturday. When playing a concert, they have to find the perfect balance of older and newer songs so no Train fan feels excluded. I’m sure they have taken a lot of time to work on the balance, but they did it perfectly.

Matt Kearney and Andy Grammer both opened for the concert and when Train did finally come out at about 9:00, the building was electric. They started off with mostly older songs that I didn’t really know including a mashup of a few different songs. Towards the middle of the performance it really picked up and they started playing those songs everyone’s heard on the radio for the last couple years.

Everyone had a great time! My group and I were sitting in the second level of the Fieldhouse, but in the first row. It was great because we could stand and sing, but we could also sit down to take a break and still see the concert. The only con for me was that I think I ate too much junk food, and it probably would have been worse if the concert was at the fairgrounds. Dodged a bullet there but if you do go to the fair, watch out for that.

However, our favorite part of the concert, and we all agreed, was how the lead singer of Train, Patrick Monahan, involved and used the audience. Once he took the camera from the camera guy and filmed the audience as we sang a part of “Save Me San Francisco”. Then he brought three girls up on stage who had responded to him on Twitter and they got to sing a song with him. Only one of them actually knew the words so he just had the other two dance. At the very end of the concert he wanted everyone to see the future of Indianapolis, so for his very last song he brought up two young boys, I would say no older than 5, and they got to be on stage with him for the final song. Afterwards they receive a signed guitar, it was a cool moment. All things considered Train put on a great show and I would gladly go back and see them next year if they decided to return.

Yes it is that time of year again. Time for deep fried ice cream or coke and elephant ears. Time for pig contests and cow contests. Time for concerts from some of your favorite bands. Through all of this, how can you not have fun at the State Fair? You will almost always be doing, eating, or watching something that will only come once a year! This year the fair goes from August 3-19 and encompasses many great performances:

Barry Manilow will kick off the fair with his performance on August 3rd.

Train will be back after last year performing along with Maroon 5. This year they will be with Matt Kearney and Andy Grammer performing on Saturday August 4th.

Journey/Pat Benatar/Loverboy will all be blazing the stage together for a once in a lifetime event on August 8th.

Blake Shelton will round out this year’s concert schedule as soothes the audience on Friday August 17th.

This year all concerts will be at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse. There are also a plethora of other contests that take place throughout the duration of the fair including:

Marsh Band Day Competition – This event kicks off the fair with great high school bands coming from all over the state to compete, all trying gunning for last year’s winner, Winchester Community High School.

Cheerleading Competition – The top cheerleading groups from around the state come to compete. These groups spend countless hours cheering on other school teams and now they get a moment to shine.

Youth Talent Contest – This event takes all of the talent show winners from the county fairs in Indiana an pins them against each other. There is a 12 and under division and a 13 to 21 division. The contest includes singing, dancing, tumbling, clogging, baton twirling, and more!

And those are only some of the many competitions being run at the state fair this year! There is just so much to do at this family fun spectacle, it would be tough to experience it all in a day. I haven’t even mentioned the rides, like the ferris wheel, that are for people of all ages!

Tickets for one day are $10 for adults and free for children 5 years or younger. Also, you can get discounted tickets for only $7 if you head to any Indiana Walmart store, Indiana CVS/pharmacy store, Indiana Farm Bureau office, The Marten House Hotel, or the Indiana State Fairgrounds Ticket Office. Lastly, there’s a multi-day pass good for 3 days at a low price of $18! Ever get caught in a rut where you always seem to do the same thing, well the State Fair is unique fun that will only be here for 17 days so don’t miss out!

Indianapolis is the home of the 2006 World Champion Indianapolis Colts. We are home to the young and talented Indiana Pacers. However, when you say sports in Indianapolis, no one’s first thought is in fact the team that has been here longer than any other, the Indianapolis Indians. The Indianapolis Indians are the AAA minor league team for the Pittsburgh Pirates and have played host to players like Ken Griffey Sr., Pete Rose Jr., Randy Johnson, and many more. However, the games are not only for a diehard baseball fan.

With the cheapest tickets costing just $10 for adults, Indians games have become a great way to have fun in the sun with friends or family. And if that wasn’t good enough, the Indians offer daily promotions that allow you to get even more bang for your buck:

Dollar Menu Mondays – Enjoy a great Monday evening baseball game and you can receive a hot dog, Cracker Jack, popcorn, and potato chip all for $1 each.

Two-For-One Tuesdays – This promotion is perfect for couples, large groups, and basically anyone else. All you need to do is pick up a coupon at a McAllister’s in Central Indiana and bring it to the game and receive 2 tickets for the price of one!

Business Day Games Wednesdays – Is there a better way to spend lunch than at the ballpark with all your co-workers? Enjoy a gorgeous afternoon in downtown Indianapolis in a way that’s fun and different.

Value Night Thursday – Value Nights bundle all of your ballpark favorites into one great deal. When you arrive at the ballpark, not only do you purchase a game ticket but you get an exclusive t-shirt, a ballpark hot dog, and unlimited soda starting at $16.

Firework Fridays – The most popular night of the week at the ballpark offers you a show for all ages. After the game, stay in your seats to enjoy a spectacular fireworks display above Victory Field.

Signature Saturday – Signature Saturdays give you a chance to take home one of a kind memorabilia. Be there for the autograph session with the current Indians team, former minor league players, or entertainers. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity.

Kids Eat Free & Souvenir Sunday – Every child ages 14 and under eats for free on Sundays. When they purchase a ticket, they receive a voucher for a free hot dog, drink, and bag of chips. Not only that, but on Sunday’s the first 2,500 fans in attendance each Sunday also receive an Indians souvenir item. Sunday’s are jam packed with great deals so don’t miss out on a great day at the park.

Indianapolis Indians games have something for everyone. The weather’s great, the atmosphere is exciting, and not to mention the team is pretty darn good. For over 125 years the Indians have brought excitement to Indianapolis, head out and you’ll see that it’s a home run.

As this summer drought seems to be ongoing and there is little rain in our future, the 4th will still be here tomorrow whether it includes fireworks or not. Setting off personal fireworks displays has been banned throughout the city dampening some people’s plans but there are still many locations around Central Indiana to enjoy fun activities, catch breathtaking fireworks displays, and have an all-around great time. Get ready to brighten up your Independence Day…literally.

As the Indy experts in events and experiencing things local we have shared below what is going on around the Circle City tomorrow. Happy 4th!

Kick off your day with a bang in Downtown Indianapolis with the “Firecracker 6 mile Run/Walk” to support Hoosiers Helping Heroes. Registration lasts from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM and the race starts at 8:00 AM.

In the evening, enjoy a beautiful night at the ballpark for the Indianapolis Indians game at Victory Field. The game begins at 6:05 PM with fireworks to follow. We’ve got tickets here.

If you can’t head to the ballpark you can also catch fireworks at the “Regions Bank Freedom Blast” at 1 Indiana Square. These fireworks begin at 9:45 PM. Viewers can complete their experience by tuning into 94.7 FM during the fireworks for synchronized music to the show.

Plainfield “Fourth of July Extravaganza” takes place at Hummel Park, just minutes west of the Indianapolis International Airport. The fun begins with a Bounce House for everyone at 5:00 PM. At 6:00 the live concert begins. As the concert comes to a close the fireworks begin at 9:55.

Lawrence starts of the day with a parade around the city beginning at 10:30 AM. “Lawrence Fireworks Spectacular” will complete the night at Community Park where fireworks begin at 10:00 PM

In the northern suburbs, Fishers will be hosting the “Blast on the Bridge” over the Geist Reservoir Bridge. Beginning at 5:30 PM the bridge will close to traffic and open to pedestrians. There will be a boat parade, skydivers, music, food, and much more. They will conclude the night with a firework show over the water at dusk.

“CarmelFest” is Carmel’s way of celebrating our independence. They begin with a Freedom Run at 8:30 AM starting at Carmel High School. They follow that up with a parade through downtown Carmel at 10:30. Events and concerts continue throughout the day ending with their firework display starting a 9:45 PM, located on the Monon Trail near City Circle Drive. These fireworks are also synchronized by tuning into My1079 FM.

“Westfield Rocks the Fourth” begins at 4:00 PM tomorrow at Asa Bales Park in Westfield. From 4:00 until 10:00 there will be live music, headliners car show, kid’s area, a marketplace, and tons more fun. Fireworks will follow at 10:00 PM to conclude the evening.

Noblesville has a mid-afternoon parade beginning at 5:00 PM. This parade is followed by a car show. The award ceremony begins at 8:30 and will conclude in time for the 10:00 PM Noblesville Fourth of July Festival fireworks which will launch from Noblesville High School.

Independence Day is a day to celebrate our nations freedom, so enjoy any of these rocking events around our city and brighten up your Independence Day.
