Gamecocks rule the CWS Roost

Game – Cocks! Game – Cocks! You could hear the cheer reverberating throughout Rosenblatt Stadium last night as the University of South Carolina Gamecocks pulled out an extra inning victory against UCLA to claim the College World Series National Championship. Congrats to the Gamecocks for winning their first Baseball national championship!

The Gamecocks battled back after losing their first game and rattled off a CWS record six straight wins to claim the title, beating a UCLA team that most people expected to win. (On a side note, the commentators kept mentioning how many overall national championships UCLA has, and then mentioned that their largest number, I think 19, comes in Mens volleyball. Ok, seriously. I respect mens volleyball, but how many schools even have it as a D1 program? Its a great accomplishment, but….)

Certainly not lost in all the excitment is the fact that the SEC has taken home another national championship, including back to back titles in College Baseball. The SEC once again out-performed the rest of the country (granted, men’s volleyball, ballroom dancing, and other non-awesome sports are excluded), especially the Big Ten, which, all jokes aside, is not even relevant in college baseball.

SEC Spring Awesomeness Update….

Well….unfortunately the Bama Womens #1 ranked Softball team was upset at home in the Super Regional round of the NCAA tournament. It was a huge surprise, but Hawaii’s huge hitting sealed the fate of the once dominant Lady Tide. However, the Powerhouse SEC still did land 3 teams in the field of 8 who will play for the Womens College World Series (Tennessee, Florida, Georgia).

Go SEC!!!

In related news, the SEC Baseball tournament was awesome, especially for people like me who like both LSU and Alabama. The Tide and Tigers both rolled through the tournament with 3-0 records to meet in a classic title game match. It was a classic. With loud a raucous crowd, multiple weather delays, and an electrifying and exciting 11 inning game, the Tide finally prevailed 4-3 in an extra-inning classic!! Both teams entered the tournament hot and both leave the tourment on fire and ready for the NCAA Tournament.

(that is actually an old picture, but it works)
Alabama and LSU joing 6 other SEC teams in the NCAA tournment, and Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, and South Carolina were chosen as hosts for the regional rounds. No intelligent person would be shocked to see several of these teams advance deep into the tournament. Its what the SEC does–they win games and win championships. Just ask LSU and their 7 national titles.

If you would like to see the SEC add to their their trophy cases, get your NCAA baseball tickets today! Or, to put it another way, if you would like to see northern teams (i.e. Big Ten) teams get their butts whipped, get those today too!

SEC Spring Awesomeness Report

SOFTBALL
We begin our report of SEC awesomeness with a look at the world of Softball. First, one must look no further than the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide softball team is 51-9 overall (and hasn’t lost in two months), and are the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Womens College World Series baseball tournament. They are hosting a Super Regional this weekend.

Joining the Tide in the Super Regionals are Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. Twenty-five percent of the 16 teams at the Super Regionals are representatives of the SEC. It will be interesting to see how many make it to the College World Series. My bet is with the Crimson Tide behind the lights out pitching of Kelsey Dunne to bring home another championship to the SEC.

BASEBALL
Next, we turn to the ridiculously loaded world of SEC baseball. The SEC boasts 9 teams in the Top 25 of the RPI (FL, ARK, VAN, SC, ALA, AUB, UK, LSU, MISS). That is insane. Of course, it is hardly surprising. This weekend the SEC Baseball Tournament comes to the wonderful city of Hoover, AL (a city I am particularly fond of) to crown the champion of the best conference tournament in college baseball.

Who will take home the championship? Who knows, this field is loaded with good teams. Is not like Indiana or Ohio State are in the tournament, this field is solid from top to bottom with extremely talented teams. This ain’t no Big Ten baseball, ya’ll.

Let the championships continue to flow in….can’t wait until the College World Series to report on another SEC National Championship!

Let Circle City Tickets show you a good time at any National Championship event! You too can see the SEC dominate the competition in person!

Why you should use a Ticket Broker

A ticket broker is someone who buys and sells event tickets.  They are helpful when a consumer wants a hard to find ticket such as front row concert seats and sold-out sports events.  The prices are set by supply and demand and will sometime will  be more than the face value. Circle City Tickets, the largest Indianapolis ticket broker, can help find tickets to local events in various venues.

The Conseco Fieldhouse is the number one venue in the NDA for three years running.  It is the home of the Indianapolis Pacers and the Indiana Fever.  The tickets for this venue include some of the best NBA tickets in the country as they are for the Indiana Pacers.  You don’t have to miss the experience of being inside this stunning venue even if you are not a basketball fan as it also has some of the biggest music and entertainment acts from around the world, other world profession and amateur sporting events and concerts.

Since 1909 the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has seen some of the worlds best drivers and fastest automobiles.  It houses over 650,000 spectators making it the largest and highest-capacity sporting facility in history.  Currently, races at the Speedway include the Indianapolis 500, Red Bull Indianapolis GP and the Allstate 400.  Inside the venue fans will also find the Hall of Fame Museum and campsites located in the infield and around the over 500 acres.

Indianapolis Raceway Park, recently renamed O’Reilly Raceway Park is another venue to see NASCAR events.  It is home to NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racing, NASCAR Busch Series racing, some drag racing and sprint car racing.  Fans can enjoy year round events in this venue with seating for 30,000.

The new home of the Indianapolis Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium opened September 7, 2008.  It is one of the best stadiums in the NFL with a high tech retractable roof and the largest video board in the League.  The stadium will host NFL football games, NCAA basketball’s March Madness Tournament and will be the permanent backup for the Final Four Tournament.  The biggest event will be the XLVI Super Bowl held on February 5, 2012.  This is an event that is sure to sell out early so contact an Indianapolis ticket broker to find a seat.  Other events will include the DCI World Championships, Bands of America Grand National Championship, The Indiana Marching Band State Finals as well as some well known music acts.

The Murat Theater is the home of world class concerts and theater performances.  Tickets for events at the Murat have been in high demand since its opening in 1910.  The facility had to expand just twelve years after opening due to the overwhelming response for tickets by the community.  Events include concerts, family shows, Broadway shows and comedy shows.

Indianapolis ticket brokers can be the best resource in finding tickets for the sold out events fans want to attend.  With these venues and the events scheduled for the upcoming year some tickets are sure to be in high demand so buy early.

Indianapolis Indians vs Durham Bulls

The Indianapolis Indians will be taking on the Durham Bulls in the last half of July right here in downtown Indianapolis.

I have so much more appreciation for these teams as opposed to the Major League teams.  I think it’s simply because there seems to be an absence of attitude and a more genuine love of the game with these guys.

The Durham Bulls will be in town for 4 games, and tickets are available for  July 20 at 7:00pm, July 21 at 7:00pm, July 22 at 1:00pm, and July 23 at 7:00pm.

If you can’t get to one of these games during the week then you should plan to come on Friday July 24 when the Indians begin their home series against the Buffalo Bisons.  This is a Friday Fireworks game which promises to hold extra excitement against the backdrop of the downtown Indianapolis skyline.
